The 2004 Le Ban is not perfect. It has aged, acquiring both admirable and questionable qualities, resulting in an interesting transformation that reminds me of how prematurely I often drink wines, not allowing them the space and time to evolve.
Specifically, this wine presents a mix of raspberries, tart cherries, confiture, earthy notes, withered flowers, and a touch of pickles. On the palate, it is soft and mellow with a hint of VA and tobacco, adding a bit of expected twist. The finish is long and reflective, making for a thought-provoking experience. Neat stuff. This wine is a beautiful example of ageing with all its pros and cons.
