E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Landonne 2012

La Landonne from Côte Brune is crafted solely from Syrah, with the grapes sourced from vines aged over 35 years, thriving in limestone clay rich in iron oxide. The vinification involves the use of thermoregulated stainless steel tanks, continuous pumping over for even blending, and a minimum four-week maceration during alcoholic fermentation. This is followed by an extensive 42-month aging process in new oak barrels.

@MI6 · Roasted Slopes

My goodness indeed, another stunningly gorgeous bottle. It presents a dark fruit compote, wet forest floor, aged bái mǔdān cake, dark fruits, and oak, alongside some delicate barnyard notes and a hint of roasted meat.

The palate is a masterpiece of balance, complexity, and layering. It finishes with a long, evolving aftertaste. More developed than the '14 yet still brimming with energy.

I realise my notes might not fully convey the reasons behind such a high score, but this wine is truly fantastic. It's not just about the aromas and flavours; it's about the emotions it evokes, the way it stuns and takes you on an exhilarating journey. It leaves me speechless.

Wine #10 on Roasted Slopes event.
